INDIANAPOLIS COLTS SIGN DE-JUSTIN HOUSTON

Indianapolis, Ind. – The Indianapolis Colts today signed free agent defensive end Justin Houston.

Houston, 6-3, 258 pounds, played in 102 games (96 starts) over the last eight seasons (2011-18) with the Kansas City Chiefs and totaled 377 tackles (316 solo), 96.0 tackles for loss, 78.5 sacks, 32 passes defensed, four interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), 14 forced fumbles, eight fumble recoveries and five special teams stops. Since entering the NFL in 2011, he is tied for fourth in sacks and tied for ninth in tackles for loss among all players. Houston played in seven postseason contests (six starts) and tallied 19 tackles (16 solo), 4.0 tackles for loss, 4.0 sacks, three passes defensed and two fumble recoveries. A four-time Pro Bowl selection, he was originally selected by the Chiefs in the third round (70th overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft out of Georgia. In 2014, Houston was named First Team All-Pro and earned the Deacon Jones Award after leading the NFL with 22.0 sacks. Since sacks became an official statistic in 1982, his 22.0 sacks tied for the second-most in a single season in NFL history.

In 2018, Houston started all 12 games he appeared in and finished with 37 tackles (28 solo), 8.0 tackles for loss, 9.0 sacks, one pass defensed, one interception, five forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. He started the Chiefs’ two postseason contests and registered four solo tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, one pass defensed and one fumble recovery.
