Dr. Woody Myers Honored by National Organization
Indianapolis, IND – Indiana Candidate for Governor Dr. Woody Myers is receiving a national award this weekend. Myers is a recipient of the “Scroll of Merit” at the National Medical Association Annual Convention taking place through Wednesday.
Myers is being recognized for outstanding achievement and for his contributions to the National Medical Association and the field of medicine.
“I’m honored to be nationally recognized by my peers as a leader in public health,” Myers said. “I have spent my career focused on improving health care quality for working families and will continue that fight as Indiana’s next Governor.”
The Democrat is also addressing the convention on the status of the HIV epidemic. Dr. Myers was instrumental in helping Hoosiers understand HIV in the early days of the epidemic while serving as Indiana State Health Commissioner. He helped make Indiana a leader in AIDS education and fought to keep teenage AIDS patient Ryan White in school when the local district banned him from attending classes following his diagnosis.
