Lanane responds to Muncie Central High School incident concerning armed teenager
INDIANAPOLIS — Senate Democratic Leader Tim Lanane (D-Anderson) released the following comments after police took a teenage boy into custody after learning that the boy was armed outside of Muncie Central High School:
“I send tremendous thanks and accolades to the first responders who prevented what could have been another disastrous school shooting.
“Earlier this week I wrote to the press about two mass shootings in other parts of the country and noted that Indiana is not immune from these actions. We dodged a bullet quite literally today, but tomorrow our children might not be as lucky.
“We have got to increase our gun safety measures in Indiana. Hoosiers deserve nothing less than to feel completely safe at school, work and wherever they choose to spend their free time.”
