Melton responds to lawsuit against Healthy Indiana Plan
INDIANAPOLIS — State Senator Eddie Melton responded to the filing of a federal lawsuit against the Healthy Indiana Plan which maintains a work requirement for participants:
“The Healthy Indiana Plan was created to provide Hoosiers with desperately needed access to healthcare. Taking healthcare away from sick people will not help them rejoin the workforce, it will only keep them out longer.
“This requirement is a barrier to access that could quite literally be the difference between life and death for many sick Hoosiers. I am proud of and stand alongside the individuals represented by Indiana Legal Services and the National Health Law Program for taking on this initiative and fighting for the rights of nearly 130,000 participants.
“In the meantime, I am prepared to fight to remove these unnecessary restrictions in the upcoming legislative session.”
