MELTON RESPONDS TO 2019 ELECTION RESULTS

Gary, Indiana — State Senator Eddie Melton gave the following comments after results from yesterday’s election came in.

“Last night, Democrats in Virginia took control of the state legislature, giving the party a majority in both chambers of the statehouse for the first time in 26 years. In Kentucky, Democrat Andy Beshear claimed victory over a Trump-backed candidate in the Kentucky governor’s race. Here in Indiana, Democrats won municipal races across the state in longtime Republican strongholds. These races are part of a trend: people are fed up with the empty promises Republicans have made to them year after year. It’s time for things to change, and Indiana has that chance next year.

“I’ve shown my commitment to Indiana’s issues and have delivered results during my time in the State Senate. I plan to do the same as the next governor of Indiana. This fight won’t be easy, but yesterday’s victories in Virginia and Kentucky show that it can be done.”
