Dr. Woody Myers’ Statement on First Financial Filing for Governor’s Race

Indianapolis, IND –Today, Dr. Woody Myers’ campaign for Indiana Governor filed its first financial report. For the period covering July through December 2019, the campaign raised $172,801.

“I am proud that we spent the first six months of this campaign travelling to 34 counties around Indiana, listening to Hoosiers talk about the issues they care about and sharing our message for a better Indiana. Our campaign is creating a solid grassroots organization, building out a talented staff, and working with the best fundraising and communications consultants in the country.

That’s just the beginning. We’re on pace to submit petition signatures ahead of the February 4 deadline and are opening our new campaign headquarters in the historic Stutz Building in Indianapolis. Our new office is less than one block from where my parents brought me home from the former Coleman Hospital for Women as an infant and where they raised our family.

We know that we are the underdog in this race, the current Governor reported raising more than $8 million. Yet I still made a conscious decision not to solicit donations from larger Indiana donors until after the municipal elections were over in November 2019 to ensure local Democrats around the state had the money they needed for success. That’s what real leaders do, they put the collective good ahead of their own agenda.

Hoosiers know that we have the right vision for Indiana and we will continue to take our message on the road around this great state.”
