The Indiana Democratic Party 1-4-20 Weekly Radio Address Podcast

Chairman John Zody with the 1-4-20 Indiana Democratic Party Weekly Radio Address Podcast:

Our state is still 47thin quality of life – leaving many of us wondering what Statehouse Republicans’ plansare to improve childcare, community infrastructure and lagging wages for Hoosiers.

TRANSCRIPT:

This is Chairman John Zody, bringing you the weekly podcast for the Indiana Democratic Party.

In my last message to you for 2019, I talked about a great year we had with municipal elections around Indiana. Now 2020 is upon us.

This year, in addition to a presidential race, we have a race for governor, attorney general, races for the Indiana House and Senate – and offices at the county level.

Indiana Democrats have a great opportunity this year to break the legislative supermajority in the Indiana House of Representatives, and to pick up seats in our State Senate. Through the hard work of our candidates in 2018, Democrats picked up the most legislative seats in more than a decade. That can happen again if we work together to get it done.

The stakes at the Statehouse are high. Governor Holcomb still doesn’t have a sense of urgency about teacher pay – even after 20,000 teachers came to the Statehouse on Organization Day wearing Red for Ed. Private schools can still discriminate against Hoosiers while receiving YOUR tax dollars – and luckily Senator JD Ford has a bill this year to stop that.

Our state is still 47thin quality of life – leaving many of us wondering what Statehouse Republicans’ plansare to improve childcare, community infrastructure and lagging wages for Hoosiers.

You can help make that difference, by running yourself or by helping someone who is. Filing for office in 2020 opens THIS Wednesday, January 8 and closes on February 7 at NOON local time. Where you file depends on the office you are running for – but the deadline is the same for everyone.

As Indiana Democrats, we will never stop fighting for the issues that matter most to Hoosiers, and with 2020 now upon us, it is critical that we support candidates who support those issues.

Not interested in running this year, but still interested in helping make a difference? Volunteer for a candidate running for office in 2020, or sign up with us at indems.org/join.

And please follow the IDP on Facebook and Twitter. Simply search INDEMS – that’s I-N-D-E-M-S on Facebook and Twitter, and follow us to get the latest news about our candidates and what we’re doing to hold our counterparts at the Statehouse and in Washington accountable. Thank you for listening.
