Democrat Mara Candelaria Reardon Criticizes Senate Acquittal

Munster, IN – State Representative and Democratic candidate for Congress in Indiana’s 1st congressional district, Mara Candelaria Reardon, criticized Senate Republicans for failing to do their constitutionally mandated job of providing checks and balances to the executive branch.

“As someone who came out early and consistently for the impeachment of President Trump, I am disappointed in the Senate’s vote to not hold the president accountable for his clear abuse of power and obstruction of Congress” said Candelaria Reardon. “President Trump has shown through his actions that his administration’s only goal was to prevent the House and Senate from having a fair and substantive trial. His actions have forced us to take attention away from issues critical to the people of Northwest Indiana, such as bringing jobs back to the area and working to make healthcare more affordable and accessible.

It’s time to focus on lowering prescription drug costs, creating good-paying jobs and building an economy that works for Hoosier families.”
