Chairman John Zody and the Indiana Democratic Party 6-27-20 Weekly Radio Address Podcast:

For Curtis Hill this lawsuit has always been about posturing for a future Fox News interview, but if he’s successful, half a million Hoosiers could go to bed with health insurance and wake up without it.

TRANSCRIPT:

This is Chairman John Zody, bringing you the weekly message for the Indiana Democratic Party.

On the day the Trump Administration filed opening briefs in a Supreme Court case to end the Affordable Care Act, I called on the Republican candidates for Attorney General to commit to removing Indiana from the suit.

Why? I believe voters deserve a clear answer on where all the GOP candidates stand on an issue that threatens the healthcare of 564,000 Hoosiers.

Remember, Curtis Hill’s fingerprints are all over legal action that would leave more than half a million Hoosiers without health care in the middle of a global pandemic. I wanted to know — are the other GOP Attorney General candidates just as committed as Curtis Hill to putting health care out of reach for 500,000 working Hoosiers?

I wanted them to make clear where they stood: with Hoosiers – or the corporations and insurance companies set to gain.

And look, the global pandemic has compounded the issue. New research showed that 564,000 Hoosiers would lose their health care if the lawsuit is successful – 67,000 more because of the coronavirus.

Of course, eliminating the Affordable Care Act could mean the 2.5 million Hoosiers with a pre-existing condition – Hoosiers like me – would see the price they pay for coverage explode or be denied coverage by insurance companies all together.

We deserve leaders that don’t play politics.

For Curtis Hill this lawsuit has always been about posturing for a future Fox News interview, but if he’s successful, half a million Hoosiers could go to bed with health insurance and wake up without it.

In the middle of a global pandemic, Republicans shouldn’t be playing political games with Hoosiers’ health care.
