This is Chairman John Zody, bringing you the weekly message for the Indiana Democratic Party.

This week, the Democratic National Convention showed Americans what the Democratic Party can do for our country. I was proud to be a part of a diverse delegation of Hoosiers who represented our state with distinction.

Yes, everything was virtual, but our delegates and our candidates “walked the walk” by participating in issue and constituency group discussions, by hearing from great speakers, and by sharing their voice on our party’s platform – and on their choice for President: Joe Biden.

Vice President Biden shared with us his vision for the future, and in choosing Senator Kamala Harris as his running mate, he is ushering in not only an historic pick, but someone who will fight for every single American. As Joe Biden said, he is the Democratic nominee, but he will be an American President.

The Convention showed us how we can be unified as a country, and how we can move away from the divisive rhetoric of the Trump-Pence Administration, that time and time again has shown us that ideology and selfish behavior take precedent over the well-being of the American people. From separating families, to suppressing votes, to abdicating responsibility on COVID-19 – to the continued push to take healthcare away from millions of Americans, this administration proves day in, and day out that it is only out for itself.

So, we must be undeterred. We have to fight back with our voices and our votes in this election. Don’t wait until November 3 to vote. Request an absentee ballot online at indianavoters.com or through your local election office. And when you get your ballot, send it back right away and DO NOT DELAY. You want to be sure your ballot gets back to your County Clerk by NOON on Election Day.

The choices in this election are clear. Interested in helping more?
