TRANSCRIPT:

This is Chairman John Zody, bringing you the weekly message for the Indiana Democratic Party.

We are now less than 40 days from the November 3 election – and things are getting busy, as they say.

In record numbers, Hoosiers across the state are sending in applications for vote-by-mail – despite Republicans refusing to expand the right to vote in our state. A reminder: we are just one of four states not expanding voting for the fall election during this global pandemic.

And while vote-by-mail is being used heavily by Hoosier voters, we cannot forget that the deadline to register to vote is October 5. For anyone who needs to do so, you can do it online at indianavoters.com. And the very next day, October 6, voting early in-person begins – a full 28 days before the election.

If you want to vote by mail, get your absentee ballot application ASAP in order get your ballot. You can apply for this by midnight October 22 – and you can also do this online at indianavoters.com. Once you get that ballot, please don’t delay in getting it returned to your local election office so that your vote can be counted.

And counting votes is what the Democratic Party will make sure happens. While Republicans continue to suppress voters in Indiana and across the country, along with President Trump’s constant narrative about election fraud and his resistance to a peaceful transition of power should he lose the election, we are focused on informing Hoosiers about the process by rolling out our Safe Voting Initiative and sending out absentee ballot applications to hundreds of thousands of Hoosiers. That is where we will continue to focus our efforts: on encouraging, rather than discouraging, voters, and making sure everyone knows how to exercise their Constitutionally protected right to vote.

The choices in this election are clear. Interested in helping?
