Indiana Democratic Party 10-3-20 Weekly Radio Address

Chairman John Zody and the Indiana Democratic Party 10-3-20 Weekly Radio Address:

Indiana remains one of just four states where state leaders have refused to expand voting-by-mail, which makes it all the more important for eligible persons to make a plan to vote.

TRANSCRIPT:

This is Chairman John Zody, bringing you the weekly message for the Indiana Democratic Party.

The November 3 election is just 30 days away, and Monday, October 5 is the deadline to register to vote. If you or someone you know is not registered, you can do it online at indianavoters.com.

And the very next day, October 6, is when early voting in-person begins at your local election office, where voters can exercise their right ahead of Election Day.

Indiana remains one of just four states where state leaders have refused to expand voting-by-mail, which makes it all the more important for eligible persons to make a plan to vote.

You still have time to request an absentee-by-mail ballot – the deadline is October 22 at midnight if you request it online. So far, nearly 400,000 Hoosiers have requested mail-in ballots for this election, and the deadline is still more than two weeks away. But if you choose to vote in person – make a plan for what day and what time works best for you after early voting begins this Tuesday if you think you may not be able to do so on Election Day, November 3.

The COVID-19 pandemic has turned the world upside down, and first and foremost, your health and safety is what’s most important. That’s why this coming week is critical with the voter registration deadline, and the beginning of 28 days of voting early, in person, if you are not able to do so on November 3.

The choices in this election are clear. Interested in helping? Tell everyone you can about these deadlines – October 5, the date to register to vote; October 6, the day where early voting starts – and encourage them to make a plan to vote – after you’ve decided what your own plan is to exercise your Constitutionally-protected right to vote.

Also, volunteer for a candidate running for state office. Sign up at indems.org/join, and we’ll get you plugged in. Please follow the IDP on Facebook and Twitter. Simply search INDEMS – that’s I-N-D-E-M-S on Facebook and Twitter and follow us to get the latest news about our candidates and what we’re doing to hold our counterparts at the Statehouse and in Washington accountable.

Thank you for listening.
