This is Chairman John Zody, bringing you the weekly message for the Indiana Democratic Party.

With the November 2020 elections behind us here in Indiana – Indiana Democrats are assessing the things we did well, and the things we can do better going into the next election. At the same time, our party will have leadership elections in March of next year that will set the next four years of leadership for the Indiana Democratic Party. In 2021, there are no elections in Indiana, so it is the year the Party uses to build on our infrastructure, train candidates and volunteers – and prepare for the next midterm election, which will be in November 2022.

As we work to move forward in Indiana, we are seeing President Trump and Vice President Pence do just the opposite. The President is still asserting that he will win the election despite Joe Biden being declared the winner. Not only does this perpetuate the uncertainty already a trademark of the Trump-Pence Administration, but it continues a narrative both Trump and Pence have pushed from Day One: that our elections in this country are without integrity.

You might remember the Commission President Trump created, and that Vice President Pence Chaired, that sought to find fraudulent practices in American voting systems. The Commission only met a couple of times, and even Republican members of the Commission refused to comply with directives sought by Trump and Pence.

Unfortunately, this isn’t anything new – but this year, Americans fought back and elected Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, who will bring a new brand of leadership to the White House and to our country. They will bring confidence to our system of elections, give people comfort in the certainty of consistent leadership, something we haven’t seen in four years of the Trump-Pence Administration.

There’s a lot of work to do, and the Democratic Party needs you. Want to help make a difference? Sign up at indems.org/join, and we’ll get you plugged in.
